I also focus on what rhythm really is and try to get the student to develop timing skills and reading skills too. I like to teach songs for several reasons, one being it teaches the student to develop certain skills and timing skills that are necessary for the student. I have taught private flute intermittently for the past 25 years, usually traveling to students' homes. I teach classical music as a foundation, while incorporating other types of music to keep it fun and interesting for the student. Many of my students have performed in recitals which I have organized, as well as in other performances that demand hard work and personal accomplishment.
