As a foundation, I start my beginner-level students with basic the basic understanding of rhythm patterns, dynamic control, and basic limb independence. I use Benny Greb's "The Language of Drumming" as it has proven to be a fun and effective learning tool for well over a decade. From there it's really dependent on the student and their learning style/pace. Hi everyone! I have been involved in performing and recording music my entire life, primarily as drummer and percussionist, but also as composer/ songwriter/ multi-instrumentalist. After eighteen years as director of the Enrichment Center Percussion Ensemble, I am devoting myself full time to music creation and private music instruction. While I have extensive experience teaching music to individuals with disabilities, and won awards for my success in doing so, I have taught many others along the way, from children to adults. Some of my interests outside of music include cooking, fishing, and playing with my cat. I have been teaching for over 5 years now. I began teaching in 2001 and have taught private lessons on and off since then. I am now starting a new studio and am looking for students who want to learn the joy of piano. I was classically trained and tend to start with this method. This along with the students' musical interests, provides a pathway to learning theory, sight reading, and composing in a fun way.
