I am a clarinetist, student, and educator excited about sharing my knowledge of music and the clarinet with students. My passion now is helping others to develop and achieve their goals in the most effective and efficient way possible, while maintaining a sense of vitality in their pursuit. In other words, serving the person in front of me to help them get there AND make the in-between time more alive and fun. Read More

For beginning drum students, I typically like to start with the Percussive Arts Society sheet of rudiments to ensure a solid technical background as the student progresses. After that, we move on to simple reading and other drumming fundamental concepts including limb coordination, fills, phrasing and articulation, etc. With older students, I find it helpful to try and begin with what they are interested and comfortable in playing. This allows me to find connections and build lesson plans specifically for the individual. Read More

I initiate from the very beginning utilizing Orff, Kodaly and Suzuki methods, as well as some movement activities for my very young students (Pre-K and Kindergarten). Then, I implement some form of musical notation based around sight singing, as a way of laying a good foundation to build upon. As I work through the grades I build upon what they are to know according to the Standards set forth by the State Dept. of Education. Read More
