For beginners, I like to incorporate a basic understanding of pitch, rhythm, and theory to develop their skills as a musician. I use a variety of exercises to develop range, intonation, diction, and breath control. The warm up part of the lesson is so important because it is where I can identify strengths and expose weaknesses that can be improved. I am a multi-genre cellist who is passionate about helping students reach their full potential as musicians. I have been classically trained since the age of three, and studied classical theory and composition at Harvard University. However, towards the end of my college experience I began to learn jazz and blues and ended up pursuing a Master's degree in Contemporary Performance. I ended up casting them as Cinderella's Stepsisters. Their song was nominated for a Jester Award (astate-wide theatre awards program for Kansas High Schools) forBest Production Number. I have had many experiences in my pursuit of Music throughout the Eastern Seaboard. I have had professional singing experiences as well in a few varied genres, include Gospel, Spiritual and Classical musics. My professional training in Education has afforded me the luxury of teaching in a variety of educational settings ranging from Pre-School to Adult Continuing Education.
