I love to share my music knowledge and I like to met new people. I am an open minded teacher and can adapt the teaching plan for students with different abilities and needs. The most important thing for me is that a student enjoys the music we are playing and learning process they are involved in and therefore make any adjustments necessary to make that a reality. I would like that my students learn something new, something that will be valuable for him/her in the future every time we have a lesson. Read More

I began taking private lessons shortly after I joined the band program in middle school. I continued to take lessons all throughout high school and college. Shortly after graduating high school I was offered the position of drum instructor. During college I taught for several years as the drum instructor at Winter Haven High School. I also taught private lessons to a wide range of students during this time. Shortly after college I became the band director at McKeel Academy of Technology in Lakeland. Read More

For beginning band/instrumental students, I normally begin with the Accent on Achievement Method Book 1. If you go into any music store, there are hundreds of options for method books. The reason I like the Accent of Achievement method book series is because it is not intimidating for kids to look at as beginners. The books have a great aesthetic, and I agree with the series' approach to introducing a new instrument. Read More

My methods are based on what I have personally tried and proven to be beneficial. The three main methods I find to be extremely important are the Arban book, and the Clarke technical and characteristic studies. In addition, I've found equally important the Earl Irons long tone and flexibility exercises. I like to find out what the student is most interested in a tailor the practice regiment accordingly. Once we start to master the basics, we can move on to specific musical styles that the student wishes to pursue. Read More
Instruments: Violin
On a first lesson, i will assess where you or your student is in terms of playing ability, based on that we can decide what comes next. Typically, if a student is brand new we will start with learning the basics of the violin and reading music using various excerpts and hands on experience. Then once some of the basics are acquired we will begin with primarily Suzuki method books as well as anything else the student may have the want to study such a piece or solo for school. Read More

For any student, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements series. This method book will help teach the basic fundamentals needed to progress on the instrument. For children, I will continue through the method book series while supplementing it with short popular pieces that may be of interest to the student. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep it fun and enjoyable. Read More
