In middle and high school, I performed on saxophone, bassoon, drum set, all percussion, and guitar every year. I performed jazz, classical, military, big band, and marching band music. My teaching method is very keen to diagrams. In my experience, it can be hard to visualize some of the terminology that is provided my teachers. Using diagrams helps to put the instructors words into a more visual format.
