For my jazz students, I always start them off singing simple standard tunes that many people are familiar with. I have access to every jazz real book, and have many different lead sheets to tunes that aren't even included in them. I also have access to many different musical theatre books for all different voice types. I'm working on getting more piano books in my library, but I am a friend to many professional pianist that are able to provide a variety of texts to me which helps me more than I know. Read More

I have proudly produced three students who are now independent music thinkers in their own rights. My first student was my mother, ironically, as she was the one who brought me to music. Now, she is a capable piano player whose repertoire ranges from Mozart to Chopin. She works harder on the piano than anyone I have met. My second student was a colleague at NJIT. As an educator, I'm a dedicated pedagogue. I like to encourage students to think, work, study, and practice the instrument on their own, not only in the class.
