For my string students, I typically use Hal Leonard's Essential Elements at first, and then I introduce the Suzuki Method for solo repertoire once they have progressed on their instruments. For my vocal students, I find what type of music my student is interested in, and I then recommend a voice book that we will pick repertoire from. For my piano students, I use the Piano Adventures series, which includes the fundamentals as well as solo repertoire. Read More

I have most students start with Essential Elements for fundamentals.  Then I progress to solo and duet repertoire when the time a student is able to grasp counterpoint and rhythm well.  Adult students can often move faster due to being able to understand the math behind music.  I also try to incorporate theory and history and culture with my lessons. My first teaching experience actually begins in my teens when I would teach my little brothers how to play the cello. This has given me important experience in teaching young children from the age as young as 4 years old. From there on I have taught other children and some adults totaling 3 years of total teaching experience. For beginning students who are children, I typically like to start with rudiments and technique studies. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will introduce the Moeller method. Later will move to the drumset and apply all 3 methods and became to develop what I like to call he groove and bass excises and different warm ups.
