As basic techniques are acquired and musical concepts are grasped, I tailor the lesson to what the students long term goals are. I also try to teach students how to listen to music, hear the empty spaces in songs that really give them their polish, and how to listen for other individual instruments to understand whem to accompany instruments and when to give them their own space.
