Growing up in Memphis, I began playing the piano at age 6. After moving to bass guitar a few years later, I finally picked up my brother's acoustic guitar and never looked back. At Vanderbilt University, I studied music and English and began gigging professionally in Nashville while still finishing my degree. The method emphasizes listening and parental involvement. I look to find the balance between challenge and enjoyment for each student. I tend to work with students on a one-on-one basis. I start by showing the student how to get a sound out of their instrument, and then I lead a student through their first scales. I almost always play the piece or scale first, as I have found learning to read music is far easier to learn when the student already has an idea how the music should sound before they try to play the piece. I have not actually given students lesson before. However I have been playing bass for over ten years, and I've been constantly performing several times a week for almost ten years. I have played in many different churches, many different colleagues recitals, and many different gigs all encompassing different music genres. I am very familiar with bass techniques styles and genres. I am just 20 years old, and while I am still a growing musician and teacher myself, I have had experience in teaching lessons for the past three years. I started teaching private lessons on acoustic guitar a couple years ago, and I have also taught classes of vocal, violin and piano students. Currently I am teaching piano and violin classes at the Salvation Army in Memphis. I have found a joy in helping students develop a love for music, as it was my first piano teacher at the age of eight who played a part in developing my love and passion for music. Read More

The first priority for me is to dully understand what each student and parent wants from the desire for private instruction. My teaching methods are tailored to each student's indidvidual needs and expectaions for the duration of lessons. I don't have a specific method book set, for I use multiple sources thoughout the teaching experience. Most of my students are middle and high school students. I have been teaching young people and adults how to play musical instruments for over 20 years. Currently I conduct after school music programs at the University of Memphis Campus School, CTK Lutheran School in Memphis, and Incarnation Catholic School in Collierville. I also have performed with many local bands in a variety of music styles. I enjoy playing out and I try to instill this natural attraction to music making in all of my students. Read More
