For beginning students, I usually customize the material at the start so it can be more understandable. Some instructor's booklets can be confusing, so I just want to explain is as simply as possible and that may vary from student to student (everyone is different). For more advanced students (on bass and guitar), I use Chris Kemp's Journey to Planet Guitar. It contains everything a musician needs to know, presented in an innovative, easy way. Read More

My teaching style depends on the student. I like to see my students develop in a pace thats best for them not me rushing them before their time. I allow my student to set goals for themselves where they would like to be in the next few months when it comes to playing music. I reward my students whether they exceed or not it makes them eager to learn more. Read More
Instruments: Piano Keyboard
My musical journey began when I was 12. I fell in love with the piano immediately. 3 years later I was working on my first instrumental album. My second piano teacher, Joan Gilbert, from Julliard School of Music helped me really uncover my raw talent in high school. This is the first time I trully was inspired and effectively motivated by a piano teacher. I had two teachers before that. I continued to write music, perform at recitals and provid music for church and school events. Read More
Instruments: Voice
All people are empowered by learning to use their voice. This belief is at the heart of why and how I teach. I am passionate about my discipline because singing can be transcendent and allows us to connect with others in an extraordinary way. Therefore, I am driven to cultivate musicians who embrace their humanity through their emotional intelligence and artistic command. My approach to teaching voice revolves around the three components of evidence-based pedagogy: utilizing historic practices and voice science research, drawing from my experiences in performance, education, and research, as well as evaluating the individual needs of the student. I like to start beginning students with the Rubank Elementary series of books. Along with the Rubank books, I like to also focus on music being covered in school, if applicable. For more advanced students, I focus on the mastery of scales, technique, intonation, and sound production. I like to use the Andersen etude series, but this will vary from student to student. With adult students, the material covered is completely individual. Read More
