I like to teach and talk about the songs and styles that were taught to me by my father when I was just getting in to music and guitar. The first thing I remember learning were "Hey Joe" by Hendrix, which is actually simpler than most people would expect. I graduated most recently from the University of North Texas with a doctorate degree in vocal performance. I am currently a PhD student there focusing on Performing Arts Health. My first experience with teaching was as a 15 year old counselor at a week long violin summer camp in Maine that my private teacher was running. It was a really fun summer of outdoor violin practice, board games, fishing, swimming, watching movies and cooking together. Since then, I have been teaching private lessons and also enjoyed 2 summers teaching at Interlochen. My students are active in the local community and we participate in most of the local opportunities such as All west, youth symphonies, and competitions. Read More

I am a lifelong musician who specializes in clarinet and saxophone playing. I have been a woodwind instructor since 2020, and I work with students of many different ages, from middle school to high school and beyond. I have played in almost every type of ensemble, from pit orchestras to jazz bands, and I have experience playing multiple styles in different venues. I teach my students to be self sufficient and to problem solve by themselves. By doing this it allows the student to make logical decisions and corrections in their own practice so they can establish routines of their own. I want all students to be able to evaluate their own performances so they can use their own individual practice time efficiently. I love seeing students find a musical solution to a problem on their own because it means that I’ve taught them to use their own knowledge for their own good. Read More
