I tailor my lessons to each individual student. Students learn at different rates, so, therefore, I want each student to progress at his or her own pace, without comparison to where my other students may be at. I want learning an instrument to be an enjoyable experience, and though the student may have to do and play practices, exercises, and pieces that they may not necessarily enjoy in the moment, it will all be beneficial to him or her in the long run and I will incorporate pieces and selections that interest them as well. I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who would love to work with students and share my love of music with them. I recently graduated from Visible Music College with a Bachelor's degree in Music Production with an emphasis on Bass Guitar. I have performed at almost every major venue in Memphis (The FedEx Forum, Redbirds Stadium, The Cannon Center, The New Daisy, etc.). With my pop/rock band The Passport that I'm in, I have also opened for well known artists such as Hawthorne Heights and Shinedown. Read More

I approach teaching from a relax and laidback standpoint. I want to talk to the student as a friend and helper. My desire is to not make the student rebellious or nervous from my teaching methods. I start off on all my lessons asking my students what do they want to learn from my lessons. I ask them what genre do they want to know the most? How will learning bass guitar help them in their personal life? Read More

Growing up in Memphis, I began playing the piano at age 6. After moving to bass guitar a few years later, I finally picked up my brother's acoustic guitar and never looked back. At Vanderbilt University, I studied music and English and began gigging professionally in Nashville while still finishing my degree. I've worked as a singer/songwriter, touring artist and session musician in both Nashville and New York City. I'm proud to call Memphis home again when I'm not on tour. Read More

There is additional research suggesting that improvisation stimulates the brain in ways that promote resilience, responsiveness, creativity, innovation, my teaching is very important because current research in both education and youth development indicates the strong correlation between music education and the development of strong academic and social/emotional learning outcomes among youth. The results are in: music in general and ensemble training in particular nurture strong social and emotional learning skills, e.g., collaboration, critical thinking, self- discipline, and self-efficacy. My teaching style works with many different personalities and ages. What I found is that it works best with parents and students who are committed and disciplined in their violin practice at home. It is important for all three of us to realize the commitment we are making when we start our lessons together. Our relationships will thrive with open communication and hard work from each of us. I enjoy getting to know each student's learning style and encouraging them to achieve excellence. Read More
