I began teaching through my high school mentorship program in Texas during the early 2000s. Since then I have obtained my Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Northwestern State University, as well as a Master's degree in Trombone Performance. But I explain to them that when a person grow they don't physically see themselves growing overtime it just happens. One has to sleep, eat, etc before the body grows. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music. Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. For children and adults alike, I teach from the Ed Friedland Bass Method Book 1. It was actually the book that I started out on and Friedland is a well done studio and live bassist. He is just as amazing on bass guitar as he is on double bass. Once the student has progressed from that book then I move on to sight seeing with the student. I started teaching while I was in college as a swing dance instructor. I got my first experience teaching people who had little to no experience with the art form, and I had to navigate teaching students with varying skill levels. After college I began teaching beginning students how to play both saxophone and clarinet. I had private students who I met with on a one-on-one basis, and I also had the opportunity to work with middle schoolers and assist both the beginning and the advanced bands. Read More

Currently I conduct after school music programs at the University of Memphis Campus School, CTK Lutheran School in Memphis, and Incarnation Catholic School in Collierville.
