I graduated from Northwestern University this June with my Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education and Saxophone Performance. Having taught many students over the years, my favorite books for young beginners are the Rubank series and Pares Scale book. These give a good foundation and progression and have easy to read fingering charts. Once a student gets going with these I introduce simple duet books so that, by playing with me, they develop a strong sense of tone and intonation. The first solo books I recommend are collections of solo's by famous composers, these give the student the chance to gravitate toward the style and composer they like best. Read More

The foundation of any good technique is the most important aspect of maintaining that technique in a healthy way; similar to a dancer practicing at the bar each day, I encourage my students to internalize the foundational warm-ups first, upon which we'll build the rest of the vocal practice. Students are also encouraged to go at their own pace, and bring in any material that inspires them - the best singing is done when it's enjoyable! Read More

I tailor each lesson to the student’s needs and desires. I encourage all of them to develop reading, listening, coordination, and concentrating skills. I help each student to have the ability to play many different music styles and improvise in those styles. We work with developing the ear in order to play along with recorded music and teach them how to transcribe the songs so that they can document it for future use. Read More

When I have a new student, they come in and we spend some time talking, singing, and breathing to see where they are at so that I can determine a lesson plan that is created specifically for them. I am a passionate teacher who loves working music students of all ages! I recently graduated from the Mannes School of Music in New York City with a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance, studying with Rebecca Fischer. I grew up in Northern Virginia and started the violin and piano when I was 3 years old. Since moving to New York, I have had the privilege to perform at Carnegie Hall with the Grammy Award Winning New York Youth Symphony, and Lincoln Center with the Mannes Orchestra, holding Concertmaster positions with both ensembles.
