I want to show you that music can be the most exciting and enriching experience in your life! The best way for a student to grow and succeed as a musician is to enjoy playing. There is an enormous amount of practice that comes with learning an instrument, but if you become passionate about playing, then the urge to practice will come naturally. We will work together to establish a long term goal. Read More
Instruments: Saxophone Music
I encourage the students to listen to music, and above all, I encourage them to enjoy it, while teaching the discipline. The study will not be a burden if the student has fun while playing. One of my goals is that, at the end of the lesson, the students go home with the desire to play again and again. I also think that learning, and preparing oneself to play is a daily activity. With over 20 years of experience, I have had the opportunity to learn from many different teachers and perform in many great locations. I have been a student of local Philadelphia musicians like Eric Apelt, Al Rochlin and Bill Whitaker. In my college career I was fortunate to have instructors like Dr. Ted DiSanti and former ITG President Dr. Kevin Eisensmith. As a performer I have been a member of many different bands such as Concert Bands, Jazz Bands, Trumpet Ensembles, Quintet/Quartets, Pit Orchestra, Wedding Bands and have performed solo. Read More

Instruments: Drums
For beginning students I believe in building a solid foundation in technique and appreciation for the drum set. This is something that I try to move through fairly quickly as to help the student progress to material that they are interested in. From there we will continue to build their foundation, but by learning from material that they have brought in. From there I believe that one of the most important things a teacher can do for a student is to expose them to materials that they otherwise would not have access to. Read More
Instruments: Voice
For younger students, I believe learning basic music theory is a great foundation for understanding music and will overall help your musicality. Scales and warmups are extremely important in a new student as well, as they develop your voice and breathing in order to sing more challenging material in the future. I really enjoy the book "Singing Lessons for Little Singers" as it provides a great background on theory, breathing, and correct vocal placement. Read More
Instruments: Piano
For young children, I start with the use of their 10 fingers. We do finger exercises using Middle C as the center and exercise the fingers in up and down playing at the piano. I use the Faber method of study which is fantastic, is graded, introduces all kinds of pieces and a lot of theory. It is a very interesting course and my students do very well using it. I spend a lot of time each week planning individual lessons. Read More
