Jacob began his musical fruition at the age of 8 years old, after being inspired by listening to Rock N Roll and being surrounded by a family of musicians. He later went on to perform with cover bands in an array of musical academies across venues in New York and New Jersey; most notably The Cutting Room, McLoones Supper Club, The Stone Pony, House of Independence, and many more. After years of being taught by professional musicians, band instructors, and guitar teachers, he became dedicated to his inner-musical obligation and received his degree from Rowan University; studying Music Industry of Technology and minoring in Human Resource Management. I directly relate my teaching methods to Dr. Jan Kagrice, the founder of Musician's Wellness of North America; an organization that rehabilitates musicians with conditions that affect their ability to play their instruments. I've continued her teachings of a relaxed, observational form of playing, which basically means that my students learn how to play a brass instrument with the least amount of effort possible with the best sound possible. The method is also very body-oriented, with healthy stretches and focus on a sustainable way to play these instruments. Read More

Under the Festival's auspices, Mr. L. performed the roles of Le fauteuil in L'enfant et les sortilèges, Don Quixote in de Falla's El retablo de maese Pedro, Jack Rance in La fanciulla del West (all under the maestro's baton), and Mercutio in Roméo et Juliette. Concert appearances with Maestro Maazel include Mr. L's role debut as Jack Rance at Spain's Palacio de la Ópera de A Coruña and his Roman debut as the baritone soloist in Brahms' Ein deutsches Requiem with the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana at Rome's historic Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. Since 1996 I have been solely committed to a career in teaching and performing professionally. My Father was an amateur jazz pianist, my Grandmother, a professional opera singer prior to marriage. My earliest memories came with a soundtrack: my Dads piano playing. I studied privately both on piano (early) and guitar (later), starting somewhere in my fifth year. I always took advantage of musical opportunities afforded me at school whenever appropriate, whether that was a school musical, talent show, battle of the bands, jazz band or music elective. Soon I was asked to teach the other dancers to sing as well, and those were my first singing students. I’ve been teaching singing ever since. Even though Musical Theater is my first love, many of my students study a wide variety of music styles and bring personal storytelling skills to all music. They perform at open mics, school showcases, local musicals, churches, and clubs. Several have started touring bands or become professional singers/songwriters with their original songs receiving radio airplay. Read More
