I teach out of instructional books, notably books by Hal Leonard, Mel Bay, and Alfred. Sometimes, I use sheet music print outs, or draft up my own exercises.  I go back in forth in a non-conventional manner, adapting accordingly to the student's needs.  I like to incorporate exercises and warm ups to improve and enchance technique.  I also teach songs that the student would like to learn.  I'm very patient and rarely rigid in my approach, although I do stick to a general routine that allows a focused approach to learning. Before that, I was employed by New York Edge (formerly Sports And Arts In Schools Foundation) as a Teaching Artist/Mentor. I was placed in an Alternative High School in Manhattan called City As High School where I worked with students aged 16-21. Specifically, I worked with a program within the school called MAD (Music, Art, and Design) Academy. I began teaching trombone and improvisation when I was a junior in High School. Currently I am adept in Singing, Music Theory, Trombone, Bass (-classical) and Electronic Music, but I also practice Flute, Piano, Guitar,Percussion (congas) and Tap Dancing. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance.
