Instruments: Piano Trumpet French Horn

I am a fairly tough teacher: I expect my students to practice, regardless of their ability level. I believe firmly in scales, etudes and technique! I love watching my students figure out how these abstract skills translate into learning music!I use a few different method books for children, depending on theirlearning styles. For adults, I tailor my techniques to their interests and abilities, making it more interesting. Read More

Instruments: Piano

For beginning students, particularly children, I use the Piano Adventures books. I recommend the student getting their Lesson, Theory, and Technique Artistry books to start. From there I will add in popular and classical pieces based on the students interest and ability. I do almost the same for teens and adults, just using the Piano Adventures adult books. I have used this method for almost my whole career and been nothing but pleased with the content. Read More

Instruments: Voice

I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves to share her knowledge and love of music. In the fall of 2019, I graduate from Bridgewater State University with Bachelor of Arts degree in Music with a focus in Vocal Performance. Performing has been one of the great experiences of my life as a vocalist. I've had the opportunity to sing in other countries like Costa Rica, as well as this country, one of the places being Carnegie Hall in New York City. Read More

Instruments: Piano Voice Music

Using the techniques modeled from the International Voices of Mix, an assessment is taking on the syllable Ahh, on either a 5 tone scale or 8 tone. This is done to listen for various breaks in voice. Once this is discovered different different vocal exercises are then orchestrated to begin the process of strengthening the less stronger parts of the voice. Songs will be chosen to accommodate the students voice and interest. Read More

I approach teaching by working closely with each student to figure out their goals and interests. I introduce concepts gradually, building upon the foundation we have built in past lessons. I set realistic practice goals, understanding that we all have busy schedules. I usually assign 1-3 concepts for students to work on at home, at their own pace. Watching students grow is wonderful and immensely gratifying. I always make sure remind students of their growth and accomplishments while urging them to believe in their potential to take on new challenges. Read More

Instruments: Saxophone Clarinet

For beginning students, I typically will start them on a method book such as The Yamaha series, and start them on the basic pedagogy of the clarinet and saxophone,ie; putting the instrument together, putting the reed on the mouthpiece, setting the embouchure, etc. I will emphasize the importance of practicing; beginners, 5 times a week for 20 minutes, so they can succeed in learning their instrument. For Intermediate students, in Middle and High School for example, I will include the reportoire they are playing in their school performing groups, so they can excel in those. Read More

Instruments: Guitar Bass Guitar Electric Guitar Classical Guitar Acoustic Guitar

I have been a player, performer, and student of the guitar for over 35 years. Growing up in Western Massachusetts, I began learning a solid classic rock/pop base of guitar music (along with the obligatory heavy metal years as a teen, and playing in garage bands), taking lessons in school and privately. I was later exposed to classical and jazz music, through lessons with Berklee alum Robert Ferrier, and went on to study at Holyoke Community College and Westfield State College, earning degrees in Jazz Studies and Performance. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
