I really like using the Piano Adventures method for piano. However, I have used several method books for piano, guitar, and bass students before. Sometimes I do not require any books. It all depends on the student. I try to make a very personalized schedule per student. For adults, I also try to find out what the student is interested in and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lesson engaging and fun no matter their ability level. Read More

Though I have been teaching for over two decade years, I am far from feeling like a burn-out. In fact, the more I teach, the more intrigued I become with the learning process, and I am constantly re-tooling my approach in order to help my students learn more effectively. I LOVE teaching, and I have chosen to teach privately because I enjoy the one-to-one interactions with my students. I can actually get to know each of my students, and I use my knowledge of each new student's goals, temperament, age and learning style to tailor each lesson. Read More
Instruments: Guitar Drums Djembe
I have a relaxed and fun style of teaching. I encourage the use of rudiments and fundamentals to build good playing habits and to build strength and speed. Practice is an obligatory part of learning and is expected to become routine for the student. Practice and learning will be fun! Learning to play songs that we love is the best part! The student and I will make a list of songs and styles to work towards playing. Read More

For beginning students, I vary my teaching methods quite a bit. I often take on students in households that already have method books purchased, and I have never had an issue with using them. At times, more books are needed, but I will allow the student to utilize these already-owned options, as I myself will supplement extra music. Students will often mentally understand what they need to do, but the necessary motor skills take time and repetition to achieve their goals. Read More

For beginners, I show them basic chords (Major, Minor and Diminished) if they're a guitarist and if they're a bassist, I teach them octaves and basic waking lines. Once they progress, I show them common scales and chord progressions used in modern music and focus on developing technique. If they're intermediate to advanced, I ask them what they feel they need work on and we focus on that. For example, a student might want to know how to solo over a basic rock or blues progression or the bassist might wanna know how to make his basslines swing more. Read More

I've seen the face of an 80 year old grasping the ukulele and finally getting to hear himself playing his own songs, and seeing the glow in his eyes like a child. When you set realistic goals and set what steps are going to get you there, all the while celebrating each little victory, every lesson depends on the needs of my student. I am currently teaching solely for the fun of it and the challenge in it, as it is not my main career or main project, but it is something I get a lot from, and I have found over the years, has helped a ton of people get back into picking up their instrument, and cutting out the world for a bit. Instruments: Saxophone Recorder
I am an instructor whose own passion and personal relationship with music allows for a one-of-a-kind student-teacher experience. I attended Loyola University New Orleans as a Jazz Studies major from 2008-2011, taking a 3 year sabbatical to perform and tour with the two bands I co-founded. Both of these groups commanded a prolific performance load in and around the greater New Orleans area and surrounding cities and states. In 2017, after returning to Loyola, I became the premiere graduate of the new Bachelor of Science in Popular and Commercial Music program, where I received my knowledge of the business side of the music industry, all the while never ceasing my musical performance.
