I believe in a warm-up for all instruments, so each lesson will start with one (scales, long tones, etc.) For flute, I often start with either the book that comes with the rental book, old band books, etc. then I venture off into etude books, long tone books, and solos that promote individual development. At Manhattan School of Music I was a Teaching Artist for both the Arts-in-Education and Distance Learning Programs and have also taught at the Sitka Fine Arts Camp. I taught at Franklin College for three years and have also worked with students at a number of different universities, such as the University of Washington, Pacific Lutheran University, Seattle University, Presbyterian College, and in China at the Sichuan Conservatory of Music and Tsinghua University.
