I have had the opportunity to travel to Europe and South America to perform with symphony orchestras. I spent my college days making extra spending cash playing in weddings and small events. For adults, the Hal Leonard's Adult Piano Method is a good book to start with. Later, I began to teach from my home and eventually was offered a job in a music store. I've given thousands of lessons since I began teaching. I think it's important to teach students songs as quickly as possible while introducing some fundamentals like counting and giving them a number of different strumming patterns to work with. I began teaching back in my sophomore year of high school when one of my friends wanted to learn how to play the piano. I gave them half hour lessons once a week and tailored my teaching to fit what techniques they wanted to learn. After that, I began branching out and teaching other friends, and eventually found myself helping out the middle school bands during my study hall.
