I am not strict in one specific style. I try to be malleable in my approach as I get to know the habits and abilities of each individual. I've had students for whom I thought it best to be more rigid and repetitive drill based, while others seem to benefit from a more passive guru. It's a spectrum. To complement my studies on drums, I studied jazz theory with reknown bassist and educator Scott Mason and jazz arranging with former Buddy Rich trombonist, Tom Garling. After graduating in May 2011, I have had the oppoutunity to play in major Chicago venues like The Metro, Lincoln Hall, Congress Theater, Reggies, Rosa's and many others. The most important things for any classical guitarist are: Mauro Giuliani’s right hand arpeggio studies, Matteo Carcassi’s Etudes, Fernando Sor’s etudes among exercises I’ve learned and created personally. Other great rescources are Scott Tennant’s Book “Pumping Nylon” and Pepe Romero’s book “La Guitarra”, which are about $20 a book. Read More
