For beginners, I show them basic chords (Major, Minor and Diminished) if they're a guitarist and if they're a bassist, I teach them octaves and basic waking lines. Once they progress, I show them common scales and chord progressions used in modern music and focus on developing technique. If they're intermediate to advanced, I ask them what they feel they need work on and we focus on that. During my undergraduate studies in college, I put myself through school teaching private lessons in my home and at various music stores, churches, and performing arts schools, teaching around 200 students in 5 years.
