I teach piano voice and guitar. I have a bachelors in music therapy from Loyola university. I have 3 years experience teaching private lessons. I also taught general music at ridgewood prep for a year. I currently am activities coordinator at Lambeth House and teach music lessons on the side. My main instrument at Loyola was voice. I also had to take guitar and piano classes as well. I was in seven operas at Loyola. Read More

Hello! Tom here, lifelong musician and educator. I make music with drums (drum set, hand percussion), guitars (electric and acoustic), and electronic instruments (synthesizers, MIDI keyboards, DJ turntables). I also write, produce and perform my own music (find me @chroma.the.great on Instagram or Chroma the Great on music streaming platforms like Spotify). I've performed in big bands, jazz ensembles, rock bands, and as a solo singer-songwriter. You'll find everything from cheesy pop to experimental jazz in my Spotify music library. Read More

There are so many different ways to approach music, and so many different avenues one can go down, which is why I prefer to cater to the students learning style and interests. I want to bring in a variety of approaches to the lesson such as theory, sight-reading, and ear training. A big regret I have as a student is not learning early on, the framework and inner workings of the pieces I was playing. Read More

I was raised with music. My parents favorite pasttime was listening to my Dad's collection of over 2000 records and having me decipher the lyrics. When I started playing guitar, I got every book I could find (because this was before the internet- and my family couldn't afford lessons) and studied them all, day and night for many years. Classical, folk, blues, rock, metal and more. At 17 I played my high school battle of the bands and won with a standing ovation from the audience. Read More

I've seen the face of an 80 year old grasping the ukulele and finally getting to hear himself playing his own songs, and seeing the glow in his eyes like a child. When you set realistic goals and set what steps are going to get you there, all the while celebrating each little victory, every lesson depends on the needs of my student. I am currently teaching solely for the fun of it and the challenge in it, as it is not my main career or main project, but it is something I get a lot from, and I have found over the years, has helped a ton of people get back into picking up their instrument, and cutting out the world for a bit. The most important thing for any musician at any level is love. I know and respect this immensely. My studies will focus on helping my student find their passion for the instrument. I aim to challenge my students in a doable way, and help them technically and expressively. My teaching style is pliable and I easily find a good way of connecting to my students. With all the resources I have at my disposal, I know that I can get through to any student and help them on their path of becoming a successful musician. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More
