I have played in many venues with many groups in Connecticut, Boston, New York City, and Portland, Oregon. Genres I enjoy include jazz, bossanova, classic rock, blues and pop. Genres I enjoy teaching include most anything that the student wants to learn. If students would like to perform a song in front of other peers, I offer opportunities for that as well in local venues; however, there's no pressure to perform in front of people unless the student wishes to! My goal is always to make students self-sufficient. I want students to be able to warm-up, practice and improve on their own. I did not become a great singer until I learned how to workout problems for myself. I also want to see students gain confidence and believe that they can perform in public and accomplish their singing goals. Music has always been my passion. I have an affinity for guitar in particular and love watching people achieve the satisfaction of perfecting their chosen instrument. I find it incredibly rewarding to see students practice and perfect techniques they want to be able to play. In 2003 I joined the Rock On America program at East Coast Music Mall as a student. My curriculum varies significantly depending upon the experience/age/aptitude goals of the student. For example, a self-taught adult that aspires to play blues or classic rock cover tunes in a "garage band" type of situation doesn't really need to spend much time if any learning to read music. I currently sing for a number of professional choirs, and teach private voice, piano, and guitar. I took voice lessons for 8 years, piano for 15, and guitar for 9. I began teaching in High School once my skill on guitar and bass had surpassed my band teacher; I was tasked with teaching the 3 bass students and 2 guitar students in the program and preparing them for the end-of-year performance. From there I began an odyssey spanning two decades working with students from 7 - 60+ and from beginners to advanced players.
