I will vary my methods based on the individual student. For students between 3 and 7, I will use the Suzuki method, which in my experience is best for students of that age. For beginners after that, I will use method books and repertoire that not only addresses the students technical and musical development at that point in time, but is also fun and enjoyable to play. I encourage students to play in their school or community orchestra and will assist and encourage students to play in chamber ensembles. Read More
Instruments: Piano Violin Viola
My teaching experience started when I was in high school. A lot of children in my neighborhood wanted to learn violin and piano, I suddenly became the neighborhood teacher at just 17! After college I continued teaching privately. I have also taught in public and privet schools. My main passion in teaching is to help ANYONE who wants the gift of playing an instrument. What a thrill it is to see the smile on my students faces when they get on stage and enjoy playing their solo in a recital, or watching my students play in an orchestra. Read More

For all students, I enjoy individualizing each students lessons. I talior each lesson, to whatever the student wants to learn. I enjoy allowing my students the freedom to pick what style of music they would like to learn and we go from there. I make sure that the style we are learning are both enjoyable and challenging to ensure the student is always learning and growing as a musician. For beginner piano students, I use the book drill it or kill it by Kathi Kerr. Read More

During my high school years, I focused on composition, which became my main area of study during college. Through my college training at the University of California in Santa Cruz and San Jose State University I supported myself by giving piano lessons, playing organ and piano for churches, and working as a freelance pianist. Music has been a part of my life from as early as I can remember. After graduating from Lawrence University Conservatory of Music in 2006 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance, I have continued to perform and broaden my range of musical experiences through diverse engagement in both the classical and non-conventional realms. Performing around the world and working with some of todays brightest and most acclaimed singers, ensembles, and conductors such as Leon Botstein, Dale Duesing, Karen Brunssen, James Hall, Warren Jones, Phyllis Hoffman, Pro Arte, Bard Festival Chorus, Canticum Scholare, New York City Chorale, VOCES8, and many others has been a privilege and immense learning experience.
