I am a multi-instrumentalist in Denver/Northglenn, CO. I play guitar, mandolin, squareneck dobro, and pedal steel. In addition to guitar and mandolin I can also teach dobro and pedal steel (these were not options to check on MUSIKA however I am happy to teach them if anyone is interested). I can teach all instruments up to an advanced level (I love teaching advanced players) although beginners are certainly just as welcome! Read More

I have been teaching guitar since the early 2000s and can honestly say I can’t think of anything else that brings me so much joy every day. I Iove working with students of all ages and abilities, and enjoy seeing how they grow and develop in their skills and performance. I design each lesson according to my students’ abilities, and make the necessary changes once I become more familiar with their needs. Read More

I took guitar with Michael Engberg there for two years and also took fundamentals of music, music business, music technology, and a song writing class. I transferred over to Metropolitan State University of Denver and began my Bachelors degree sequence under the wing of Alex Komodore. I graduated from Metro in May 2014 with a Bachelors Degree in Classical Guitar Performance, and the experience thus far has been amazing. I love to teach and I love to learn about music as well as people who desire to be musicians. Read More

Practice Practice Practice! and wanting to practice. Probably the most important thing in music at first. The biggest problem is method in itself. There is not just one way to teach everyone. Music is a lifelong study. It never ends. So learning should be the encouragement of accomplishment. Which has to involve learning some theory but focus on mechanical and listening skills as well. Whether we practice the same drum beat over and over or strumming the same chords its here that we find what we call music. Read More
Instruments: Guitar Drums Bass Guitar Acoustic Guitar
I have been playing music since I was about 8 years old. I started with the drums once my parents tired of my "playing" the kitchen! I started playing the drums at 11 years old and had my first student when I was old enough to drive. I started playing guitar at 25 when my life made keeping drums impractical. I picked up bass while playing with a small jazz group that did not have a bass player. Read More

I have fun with my students. They learn to play songs that they want to play, and I provide theoretical and technical instruction within that framework. Learning to play an instrument is a lifelong endeavor which provides both challenge and satisfaction. I'm an active listener and seek to understand each student's needs and goals. Education is a two-way street, and I learn from my students as they learn from me. Read More

I began practicing music without a theoretical background, on piano, at age 8. My first exposure to music theory was in college. The written basis for the logic I'd already been hearing enraptured me. Then as now, an increase in my understanding of music theory equates directly to a practical application on multiple instruments. I believe this correlation between theory and idiomatic technique is the bedrock of any long term practice, serious or amateur. Read More
