I have several years of experience in both concert and marching percussion, playing in the LMEA All State Band in high school and marching at the Louisiana Stars Drum and Bugle Corps in 2019 and 2022. So much can be learned from breaking a song down and looking at everything that makes it a song. At this point, I can cater lessons to meet the needs of the student. If a student wants to learn more about songwriting, using song analysis, we can identify key concepts that can be used in songwriter development. In addition to the fundamentals of music and theory, I will guide the student through the mental and emotional aspects of music as well as building listening skills so that they student can identify various musical elements (such as scale degrees) by ear. I began learning cello with the Suzuki method at age five. I believe Suzuki is a great place to start, as it gives learners a chance to practice specific technical and musical skills before moving on to more challenging material. Suzuki also emphasizes listening to professionals perform pieces you're working on, which I believe is important as it allows you to "absorb" good habits.
