I have been teaching privately for almost 4 years. I train students on whatever they want to learn, but make sure to incorporate the basic fundamentals needed for good singing I also spent time teaching in public schools as a high school choir director and elementary general music teacher. This gave me experience working with a wide age range of students, and helped me develop different techniques for different age groups. Read More

About three summers ago, I played a show in my hometown of Montclair. Afterwards, I struck up a conversation with a woman who had just seen me play. She asked if I could give her son guitar lessons and, even though I had never taught before, I agreed. I've been teaching ever since; there's nothing more rewarding than helping someone else get better at their instrument. I gave guitar lessons throughout high school and am continuing to do so in college. Read More

My teaching style is light and fun and geared to the temperament of the child and the specific goals of the parent. My methods are traditional pedagogy. With younger students under the age of 5 and special needs students I make use of tactical manipulatives for example play doh to assist with fine motor skills. I also incorporate if needed coloring full body movement etc if needed. I try to set realistic goals with both the student and parent bringing various rewards and incentives for achievement.. I began teaching privately in high school- mainly teaching my younger fellow students. During college I taught at two private lesson studios in New Jersey. I expanded the instruments I offered there, and met students young and old, and over time, I learned how different people of different ages and backgrounds learned and understood music. I now currently teach both privately and at a private studio in Queens. My teaching method is highly evolved, tuning into the personality and capabilities of each student, reacting lesson by lesson to offer material and methods that will be most helpful to them. For beginner students, I like to use the Faber books or the Thompson method for piano. I also encourage students of all ages to share what they enjoy listening to and incorporate songs they enjoy as early as possible. As students progress I get into more in depth concepts in music theory and improvisation, to provide a foundation in the language of contemporary music. For more advanced students, I try to play another instrument along with them sometimes to provide a taste of what it is like to make music in a group setting. Read More

My name is Gregg, I like to define music as aural changes over time, a change people listen to regardless of their personal styles. The teaching of music is then a transmittal of a new language with all its nuances. It is these changes that first attracted me to music. I really started my career in music at a concert for a whole high school. I "reached the wall" and went over it, all my playing seemed effortless and still in sync with the rest of that venue.
