I'm not interested in teaching one certain way- I listen on the fly, and make judgment calls according whatever makes YOU sound best. For children under the age of 9, I recommend a Suzuki-based method which involves the parents at each lesson and for at-home practice. For children 9 and up, I offer a more traditional classical approach which shows them how to read, interpret and gives them the technical skills on the instrument to enjoy themselves and keep on growing musically. Adults are wonderful students and for each one I craft a path of study to allow them to grow in skill as they master new levels, from absolute beginner to advanced musician. Read More

I typically do not make lesson plans but go off of what a student wants to learn. I can make lesson plans upon request. Usually, for in-person lessons, we will play together and then talk about our playing. I will provide recommended exercises to do in between lessons. I will also recommend music to listen to as well as exercises to do in between lessons. One of the most important things about music is to practice at least 10-20 minutes every day. Read More

Teaching for me works best on an individual level. Students work on different levels and languages concerning music, and you have to be able to adapt to them. Some people might understand everything from the get go, some students need graphic support, some student need to learn song to understand what they are doing. The important part of being an instructor is not the actual material to be taught but being able to clear the way for the student to learn and teach himself, as well as providing a direction towards understanding the instrument and music through the taste and necessities of each student.
