I began teaching violin a year after the Covid pandemic when I pivoted to in college. I originally was pursuing a conducting degree so I could work with more musicians and performers. This was derailed due to Covid however because group settings had tight restrictions. I set weekly goals for my students, and keep track of their progress in personal journals. Each student is different, and progress will vary from student to student. I'm a musician and writer based in Uptown with 16 years of experience playing Violin and Viola. I graduated from the University of Chicago in 2018 and have studied Viola with Ronald Houston, currently teaching at Southern Methodist University, and Doyle Armbrust of the Spektral Quartet. I am currently a member of the Chelsea Symphony, was formerly the principal Violist of the University of Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and I'm a former fellow with the National Symphony Orchestra's summer festival in Washington, D.C. For intermediate students, I incorporate short concertos such as Vivaldi, Bach, and Haydn. In addition, etudes and scale practice with arpeggios are the basis for technique improvement. Other teaching materials may include Carl Flesch scale system, Hřmal scales, evčk, Wohlfahrt, Kreutzer, and Vieuxtemps. My curriculum is individualized to each students ability and interest.
