Generally, I use my own custom lesson plans and materials for my students and adjust them according to skill level and interest. This includes lesson notes, technical and listening exercises. I personally don't believe in strictly sticking to the typical guitar and voice books you can find at your local bookstore or online. In fact, I strongly believe that it's my job to go past what is provided in such handbooks and provide fun, practical and engaging lessons are tailored to each of my students to fit their needs. I am a professional bassist and guitarist based in Los Angeles. I love to teach and share my knowledge and experience to help others who are eager to learn. I graduated in 2016 from the Musicians Institute in Hollywood with a Bachelors Degree in Bass performance. Since then, I've been playing shows, doing recording sessions, and teaching my own lessons as well as teaching in a few music schools. Most recently, I have toured in many countries playing Bass with Persian singer/artist Dariush Egbali. Read More

I really love seeing my students come into their musicianship and artistry! I know that, it is really important that each student flourishes at his or her own pace. I believe setting realistic goals keeps both myself and the students engaged throughout the experience. I want to celebrate the wins we come across as much as possible as I know that inspires a lot of people to continue. I like to tailor everything to the students needs and desires while also giving them a broad knowledge to build from. Read More

I don't have much paid experience in teaching, however I've been helping my peers and family learn guitar since I was only 2 years into playing. Once I picked up guitar at 11 I rarely put it down, and there wasn't a longer window of a couple weeks where I wouldn't pick it up. (Even to this day). In middle school I took beginning guitar as an elective, thinking it'd be a fun easy A. Read More

I love seeing my students become as passionate about music as I am! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. It's important for each student to have just the right amount of material to work on each week, so that they are progressing without feeling overwhelmed. I also make sure to acknowledge the work that might students put in, and encourage them to feel proud of what they accomplish. Read More

Students will likely begin in a method book of some form, and eventually will use supplementary material as needed. The method books for Younger students typically consists of 3 or more levels depending on their skill, while the method books for older students provide a good outline of the technique for the instrument. The supplements provide materials to develop musicianship and artistry through repertoire. This approach allows the lesson to be tailored to the students' overall purpose for taking the lessons. Instruments: Guitar

What does a normal practice session look like for you?
I have a schedule that I divide into specific sections. I always warm up, like if it was a sport., you're using your muscles and tendons so I want to take care of that first. Then start pace by pace already on my instrument and from there it could be scales, arpeggios, chord tones, triads, chords, multiple chord voicings, substitutions, extensions, reading, ear trainning, theory, new songs, solos, licks etc. All lasting less than 30 minutes to focus totally on the topic and get the best out of each one of them,

If you have a Music Degree, what is it in (Performance, Education, Musicology, Theory, Composition, etc) and why did you choose that degree?
Guitar Performance Degree. I chose that degree to have an in-depth knowledge of things I always watched online that my idols played or what I heard on the music I played on my Ipod. Being an alumni from Musicians Institute has been something I am proud of. I learned a lot from so many teachers, not only guitarists but every musician there. They have different approaches and experiences either performing, learning and teaching. It gave me a wide spectrum of the industry and what being a musician is like. I love what I do and can't see myself doing anything else. If I can help anybody with what I love, that's really rewarding.

What is your favorite style/genre of music to play and why?
I believe to know what you like you have to try everything, even what you don't like. I have certain styles more ingrained in me than others but I like al kinds of music. My love for music started with the guitar virtuosos from the 80's. The music I love the most is metal, rock and of course blues! I took jazz and funk lessons in college, it could get as complicated as you want it to be. I've been all over the place, from listening to classical music to punk rock, to 80's rock and pop. No matter what it is if I like it I like it.

If you play more than one instrument, how did you decide to start playing the second? (Or 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc)!
I always wanted to play guitar and still can't picture myself doing anything else. My love and passion for music kept growing since I was a kid and to have a better grasp and understanding for music as a full band I started lessons for drums, bass, piano and even singing. I have more than a basic knowledge fro them and can play couple songs. Taking those private lessons helped me to compose my own songs and start different projects. I know the approach of every instrument is different but thinking different, takes music to another level.

10 Songwriting Tips To Help You Write Memorable Music

...so limits a musician because they can’t see the bigger picture of why music works the way it does. Music theory is really a language more than a theory, and with it musicians of every age, skill level and background are able to communicate.   Knowing your theory will also help you collaborate with other musicians. If you write music with another songwriter, knowing what playing in the key of Eb means or how to improvise using the G melodic minor scale will help you to be able to work with other musicians. Essentially, music theory is a music explainer, and... Read More

The Bass Trumpet- A Brief Overview

...The Bass Trumpet Where it came from and where it is now The composer who wrote a 16-hour opera cycle and dreamed up the black sheep of the tuba family (the Wagner Tuba) has contributed more to the low brass world than you think.   Wagner also helped propagate the development of the Bass Trumpet, for better or for worse.   Maybe you already knew this and maybe you didn’t—either way, few instruments share a background as murky as the Bass Trumpet, and even fewer suffer as much confusion in the modern era as to how and where it should ... That way, if the child accidentally drops the instrument (and it happens frequently), there is no damage to the violin, and there is no trauma for the child. When the child isn’t worried about what will happen to the instrument, he can focus on making sure his posture is good. And that is the goal. Posture and Progress In Suzuki violin, the focus begins with good posture. Once posture is good, the child is set up for a relaxed playing stance – there should ... Read More

For example, a year of rental fees for a full sized violin may equal or be similar to that of the purchase of a starter one. Additionally should you decide to stop lessons the instrument may be resold, either to a local or online music shop. Keep in mind you will most likely be offered below retail price for the instrument, but you will get some money back. Owning an instrument can also give the student a sense of pride.
