Overview:

Playing and spreading music has always been my passion. I am a graduate of USC Thornton School of Music, I hold a degree in Guitar Performance. Thus far, I have been having a great experience playing in the different venues around the world as well as collaborating with other artists. I played concerts in LA, Boston, Yerevan, Damascus, and other cities. One of my recent appearances was with the Port Townsend Symphony Orchestra. we played the Fantasia para un gentilhombre by Joaquin Rodrigo under the baton of Maestro Tigran Arakelyan.

EXPERIENCE

I started teaching since my early teenage years. after gaining good knowledge during the first years of my early studies, I started helping my conservatory instructor with teaching the younger kids of my class. Thus, my teaching experience gradually developed and I started teaching at a couple local music schools. eventually I came to realize that teaching and transferring my knowledge to others is something I really enjoy and love. After few years I started a little private studio.

METHODS USED

I use a variety of guitar methods and always do my research to enrich my teaching repertoire. I use Frederick Noad' s guitar methods for beginning and intermediate students. with Advanced students I use pieces from my personal repertoire that I played during college years. I use Mel Bay's guitar methods for electric guitar and plectrum technique teaching. In addition, I use music theory and harmony books to enrich the students musical background. Also, I highly emphasize the importance of sight reading and I have my students sight read for 15 minutes in the beginning of each lesson.

LESSON STYLE

I perceive that teaching a student music is beyond simply having them play the right notes at the right time. I put High emphasis of posture, hand position, tone quality, etc.. My goal is to ultimately train well rounded musicians and not simply guitarists. I like my students to develop a musical taste and make tasteful decisions when playing their music. I teach my students Solfege, composition and arranging as well.
