For beginning flutists, I typically start with the Rubank Elementary Method so that they can have a basic grasp of the fundamentals. Beyond that, I introduce books according to their musical goals and needs. In music learning, I believe that listening is of utmost importance. One must internalize and interact with the music they hear so that they may develop a concept for what they would like to play. I ask them to bring any materials they have and will often recommend books and supplemental material I have had success with.
