For beginning flute students, I typically start with the Rubank Method Books. I will have the student begin with the Elementary book and then progress to the Intermediate book followed by the Advanced book. As the student progresses I will also begin introducing solo pieces to add to their repertoire approriate for possible recitals. For adult students and more advanced players I will add etude books and other exercise books along with the Rubank Method Books. For beginning piano students, I typically start with the Faber Piano Adventures Series. Within each lesson I work on scales, technique, intonation, and musicality. I use these in each piece that is studied. I usually use a lesson book and a solo book so that the student can receive adequate instruction in all these areas. As the student progresses, other exercise books are added into the lesson. Within the lessons I apply music theory and history to their pieces and take into consideration age level so as not to overwhelm them. I believe it is important to understand these concepts as you progress in order to play the pieces in the correct styles. My practice time requirements for students vary based on level of proficiency. I want the students to enjoy learning, develop a love for music, and have fun in their lessons.

I have used several different method books for beginners, but I tend to like the Faber edition.  After about the second or third book I incorporate classical music pieces into the lesson.  For adults I have had success with Piano Partners, which uses a different style of showing patterns and teaching improv to get the student playing much faster than traditional methods.

Hi, I am a passionate instructor that plays guitar, piano, sings, and composes. In 2015, I received my Bachelor's of Music degree in Jazz Guitar Performance. In and out of school have performed in big bands, jazz combos, guitar ensembles, vocal jazz ensembles, and musicals. In addition, I have performed, recorded, and toured with an indie rock band for over 10 years. My varied experience enables me to help students with self-expression as well as technique and theory.

I have been teaching both beginning piano and voice lessons since 2010, and have found so much fulfillment in teaching students of all ages and backgrounds. I believe it is so important to customize each student's lesson experience based on their individual needs, strengths and weaknesses. My goal is to make these lessons feel rewarding and fun for you, so we will discuss together what it is that you're seeking from your lesson experience regarding musical styles, skills and your overall personal goals. Whether you're taking lessons to try something new, prepare for a performance, or cultivate a lifelong skill of playing and performing for others, I am happy to help you get there.

I'm a progressive and dedicated instructor who loves to share his personal experience with traditional and non-traditional music.  While in college I had the opportunity to sing in several different choral settings (chamber, mixed, men's, small group acapella men's, quartets) working with many different styles and eras of musical composition and arrangement.  My senior year also included the opportunity of a tour in South Korea exploring their awesom choral traditions.  Aside from vocal music, I also played in the wind ensemble on trumpet and had my own funk outfit outside of classes to fullfill my own creative direction.  After graduating in the Winter of '11 I moved to Colorado to find a better audience for the funk, jazz and fusion music that I have personally gravitated towards.  I've played most of the major venues in Denver, Boulder and the Front Range opening for giants like Victor Wooten and John Medeski, and currently am pursuing my Masters this upcoming Fall for Jazz Composition.
