I am currently enrolled at the University of Northern Colorado for a Doctor of Arts in Saxophone Performance with an emphasis in Jazz Pedagogy. I have performed in such venues as The Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival, The Texas Jazz Festival, the JEN Conference in Dallas, Texas, and the New Orleans Reggae Festival. During both my doctoral and masters degrees, I worked as a Teaching Assistant in the flute studio. Along with teaching private lessons to undergraduate students, I have experience leading studio classes/group lessons, technique/scale classes, and I designed a semester-long class titled, Teaching Technique through Repertoire, which I later presented as part of a pedagogy project. My goal with all students is that they enjoy learning, become self-motivated to practice, and consider their musical abilities as a gift which they can choose to share with others whenever they feel comfortable to do so. I have experience using a variety of method books and can easily recommend appropriate materials.
