Hello! I'm a Berklee College of Music Alumnus with 20+ years playing experience! I started studying the saxophone at 9 years old and spent most of my early school years performing in community, school, and local college jazz bands around the Seattle-Tacoma area of Washington State. My music has given me the opportunity to travel the world, and in summer of 2016, I conducted a tour of Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda with my band the AfroXchange in conjunction with music therapy organization Global Youth Groove where I hosted jazz masterclasses, as well as performed at clubs and festivals, and assisted a music therapy team around the countryside. I began teaching private lessons when I was in high school. Since then I have gained more experience teaching privately and in group settings. In college I had the opportunity to direct and teach a community flute choir for adults. Currently I teach private and group lessons to high school students through the Boston Public Public School District. It is important to me to make sure my students are enjoying the work they are doing and have a say in the music they are learning while developing good practice tools. Read More

When I was in middle school I developed a strong passion for music performance and teaching. I went to a performing arts high school called The Dreyfoos School of the Arts in West Palm Beach Florida where I excelled in perforance on clarinet and saxophone. Knowing that I wanted to major in music the performing arts high school helped me very much. I also worked as a School Aged Child Care Leader at Sandburg Elementary School from 2015 to 2018, further honing my skills in working with children ages 5 to 11. In 2019, I attended Marrowstone Music Festival as a Fellow. This gave me the opportunity to mentor high school and undergraduate flutists individually and during sectionals and to coach a student wind quintet. I consider myself a laid back teacher who still has solid expectations. I understand that each student's feasible time commitment may be different and I would like to honor that. With that said, I expect my students to put time into their music, because that is the only way to make progress and to maximize their ultimate enjoyment of playing an instrument. I began teaching 7 years ago in high school and I have continually taught students of all ages since. As a flutist trained with teachers in jazz, classical, and pop, I am experienced playing and teaching many styles including classical, opera, swing, pop, and musicals. Along with the flute, I hope students will also learn music theory, orchestration, and singing. By giving students a holistic musical education, I facilitate a rewarding experience for students.
