I think one of the most important aspects of teaching music is how to learn. Every student learns differently. Knowing if they learn well by sheet music, by ear, or just working on technique. This requires two important aspects: development of technique/facility on one's instrument, and a sense of acheiving one's personal musical goals. After studying jazz performance at the University of New Orleans under the tutelage of jazz icon Ellis Marsalis, I attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston being awarded the Best Entering Student Talent scholarship in '02 and the Berklee Achievement-based Scholarship in '02, '03 and '04 graduating with honors in 2005 with a Major in Bass Performance.
