I have had various private students since 2006, teaching students in many topics including, saxophone, clarinet, jazz theory, composition, improvisation, and jazz piano. From summer of 2013 to spring of 2018 I taught private saxophone and clarinet lessons for Shrewsbury Public Schools, while taking private piano, clarinet, and theory students from the Music Teachers Network referral until 2017. For beginning students, I start teaching fundamentals through the Rubank Essential Elements book. As students move toward intermediate-advanced levels I introduce the Jeanne Baxtresser book of Orchestral Excerpts and the Taffanel-Gaubert book for technique. I bring in a piece each lesson for sight-reading practice to encourage students to read music on their toes. Additionally, through practicing scales, students learn music theory and notation. At the end of each lesson, I give students a musical goal for their next lesson to motivate active participation in their learning process. Read More

I love teaching private lessons, and I have 12 years of experience doing so.  I have been playing flute for 26 years, and I earned my Bachelor's in Music Education and Flute Performance from SUNY Fredonia, and my Master's degree in Flute Performance from the Hartt School.
