In each lesson the student and myself work to make goals for them to accomplish every week and discuss discuss the ways they might be able to go about accomplishing the goals. Sometimes I will make audio recordings of a student to track progress. For a student to sit and really listen to the improvemnets they have made I find to be one of my best teaching tools. Originally from Gainesville, Florida, I first learned piano, then added saxophone, clarinet, flute, and bass in my middle and high school years. This allows students to start from the very beginning, especially if the student does not have previous music reading experience. I teach reading and playing hand in hand so that it becomes a memorized process. My passion for teaching began in my Junior year of high school in 2011-2012, when I spent 6 months teaching guitar lessons to elementary school students at a local YMCA after-school program. With a class size of approximately 10-15 students, I learned many valuable teaching methods for students of all backgrounds and learning methods. As every student has different needs I dont have a specific plan that I follow. Rather I like to adapt my lesson plans to each individual students goals and playing ability. I always have my students work on a mixture of technique, etudes, and solo repertoire. For very early beginners I like to work out of Trever Wyes Very First Flute Book and his Beginners Book for the Flute. I also like the book Forty Little Pieces in Progressive Order for Beginner Flutists and from there progress to First Solos for the Flute Player. Read More

In addition, I have performed in the pit for the musicals Once Upon a Mattress, Fiddler on the Roof, Anything Goes, Oklahoma, and Beauty and the Beast. I have also worked closely with many composers and has premiered new works by Nolan Stolz, Masatora Goya, Sean Pallatroni, Brendon Randall-Myers, and made the world premiere recording of the Delian Suite, from a body of international composers in the Delian Society.
