While still in college, I was a music tutor at North Star in Hadley For two years. I worked one-on-one with students in middle school on both voice and guitar. During my time there, I taught kids anything from different chords on the guitar, to breath support and passion in one's singing, to vocal improvisation and stage confidence. For younger children, I typically start with the fundamentals such as distinguishing between the head voice and the chest voice. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for said student. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in both repertoire and vocal goals, and guide my instruction according to their goals. I teach students about breath support and resonation and how they work together. Then help the student customize their own warm up method. while working on scales and solfeggi (do re mi). And then work on vocal projection and range, before moving onto vocal articulation and annunciation. For Flute students I use the Trevor Wye Beginners Book for the Flute. Clarinet I use the Rubank Method books.
