I believe it is very important to prepare the mind and the body for the lesson to get the maximum benefit. In all of my lessons I begin with appropriate warm-ups before moving on to skills and technique. I use a variety of method books depending on the goals and wishes of my students, and I tailor them to make sure they are learning all the skills they need to be able to play the solos and fun music that they want to learn. The duo recently placed second in the Best Composers Series for Best Bartok Performance for their performance of Bartoks Romanian Folk Dances. Ms. Kaitlin H. is currently completing her masters degree in flute performance at The Hartt School under Janet Arms. She previously completed her undergraduate degree in flute performance with a minor in social media under Dr. Susanna Lowey and Janet Axelrod. I am very relaxed and understanding, but extremely focused and productive in lessons. I do not force my students to practice; if they don't have an urge to practice then I need to adjust my approach. It's my goal to make my students WANT to practice.
