Growing up in New Orleans, LA, I have performed with many outstanding musicians in the area including Russell Batiste, Johnny Vidagovich and Ed Petersen. My lessons for vocalists are divided into two sections: technique and repertoire. For singers, breath management skills are of primary importance as this directly affects intonation. I like to begin with Anne Peckham's The Contemporary Singer. My students can choose any songs they would like to sing while we work on musicianship skills including expression and lyrical phrasing. I began teaching in 2009 while I was attending the University of Massachusetts Lowell. While I was a student I began to study with some truly great musicians who really helped me realize my potential. I got some jobs teaching area high school drumlines and marching bands and really enjoyed the experience. When I first started playing I was mostly interested in marching bands and drumlines.
