However, my priority with first students , is to make sure they are engaged and loving what they are doing within the first 10 minutes. My first priority when I meet a student is to nurture and begin to stoke their own fire and love for rhythm, music and the drums. I want the student to be happy, and to have fun. My students were often times older than me so I was forced to adapt fast and develop lesson plans that might not be "standard".
