I have delved ever further into it over my lifetime (and continue to do so); and I love bringing whatever knowledge out of the "sea" of music there is to students who are eager to learn. Furthermore, I love getting "out of the way," so they can learn. Things that get IN the way are bureaucracy, stuffiness, overbearing attitudes, lack of curiosity, laziness, and pressure, to name a few. I have a track record of overcoming these obstacles to bring out the music YOU love from within you. Read More

By my sophomore year I had begun taking on private cello students. Fast forward to six months post-graduation, I had myself a full schedule between my private studio and a local music school I was contracted by. At my peak I had near 60 recurring students young and old across six instruments, 40 of which regularly performed at out semi-annual recitals! My secret to managing such a large studio at times is my love for teaching. Read More

I am very enthusiastic about teaching. I try to make the experience for my students as rewarding for them as possible. It is such a wonderful thing when students develop a passion for music. I strongly encourage them to pursue their interests. My teaching style is methodical but very practical. I believe it is crucial that each student progresses at their own pace. I like to set realistic short term goals for my students. This makes the students eager to learn more and progress further on their musical journey. Read More

My teaching style will be The Bob Ross approach. If the student doesn't feel relaxed, or isn't having fun, then I would have failed as an instructor. I will always remind my students that talent is just passion met with dedication. I will break down the method to the simplest step, then we will repeat that step until that becomes second nature. This will apply to each of the steps, until we go back and add all of the elements together. Read More

For younger students I start with showcasing what they can achieve with practice and perseverance. I do that by showing my playing. Then we start with the chromatic scale so the fingers can get use to the strings and moving around the fretboard. Same with drums but we start with easy hits and patterns. For adults I would talk about what are their interest and goal in music (genre, style, job, etc) and go from there. Read More
