Hello! I'm a passionate and motivated instructor that loves to teach students and various styles of music. I graduate from Bethune-Cookman University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education and in 2010 with a Master of Music degree in Music Performance from Georgia State University. We soon push the boundaries of what they think they are capable of and allows them to apply the music theory in real time. My lesson plan includes: Hand and foot technique, learning to read music, good practice techniques and habits, learning to play with a click track/metronome, live performance techniques, rudiments, limb interdependence, Latin, funk, rock, blues, jazz, reggae, and country styles, and charting (mapping out song structures for faster memorization of songs) which also deepens your understanding of the interworking parts of songs and how to arrange them to achieve the most effective response for your listener. I tailor a student's curriculum to their musical goals and needs, while making sure that I am instilling the fundamentals needed for pursuing music at the college scholarship level. Often this means scales, chords, arpeggios, music literacy, performance practice and listening skills. To accomplish this, I use standard materials that are often available online and are used by college and University music programs around the world. I have a variety of method books in different styles and from different time periods, and will select, assign, and provide a Method book to a student based on the student's goals. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with rudiments on a snare drum before approaching a drum kit. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce them to a small basic drum kit set up using only the snare, hi hat, and kick drum. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More
