I am very flexible with my teaching methods and put together the best style matching the student's learning strengths. Furthermore, I update and change my methods if I feel the current method is becoming ineffective. I keep my lessons interactive with the student because the time is for the student to retrieve as much information as he/she can regarding their instrument and they can build a stronger week of preparation heading into the next lesson. Currently my most used methods are teaching via classical, pop & jazz, and Suzuki methods. Read More

After we decide on your lesson plans...I give you a weekly assignment. It is usually: "Nuts N' Bolts" (Reading - Rudiments - Rhythm)...Syncopation....Drums And Music (Drum Beats/Fills/Drumming Styles/Music Styles)...Soloing. My goal is simple:I give you homework every week. Your job - to the best of your ability - to work on it and return to the next lesson to exemplify your progress and be ready for new assignments and information. Read More

I have found that showing instead of telling comes across really well in teaching. I like to break things down and make sure a student isn't wasting time trying to get something new. I began playing drums in 1994. In 1999, I joined my first band, which was blues/funk/rock. We had a ton of fun, recorded two albums in the studio, won a bunch of contests, played Hollywood and countless local gigs. Since then, I have recorded two more albums with various bands and have massive amounts of stage time as part of a live group. During that time, I have taught a few random people how to play or how to improve. Read More

My teaching style is informal in that the lessons are challenging, but the delivery is casual. It's important for me as a teacher to relate to the student on a personal level, so that I understand what the student wants to do and the direction and path they'd like to take. To see the student progress is most important, but to understand the best method to encourage the student is the primary function of the instructor. Read More
