My teaching experience dates back to my high school days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 8 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 3 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I make sure that beginner students understand the instrument and start with the proper technique before they can develop bad habits. I try to pick a song or finger exercises for them each lesson as well as a few exercises where they can develop their reading skills. In college while I was living amongst 7 other peers, I was constantly asked about how my creative process worked and how I created music from scratch. Using software such as logic and a typical 88 key piano, i would give mock lessons on how to create mood in music from simple chords which led me to realize how much I actually liked teaching.
