I am a graduate from NYU with a Master’s in Music Technology. I am hoping to start a career in the music industry or any similar field. I have been playing in multiple bands and orchestras since I was young, and have played at all levels. I have helped other or fellow musicians at places like Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts, where I was a music staff intern during one summer. Read More

I have been teaching for 10 years now and have a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with anyone interested in learning music. I graduated in 2011 with a BA in music education from Brooklyn College, and recently graduated with a MA in Jazz Performance in 2020 from New Jersey City University. I perform regularly in the New York City music scene, performing with such ensembles/musicians like the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra, Mingus Big Band, Shag Horns, Eddie Palmieri, James Jabbo Ware, and Adam O'Farrill. I have played many diverse styles over the years. In addition to being well known in the world of classical saxophone, where I have worked with and studied with several world famous players, I have always enjoyed playing in jazz ensembles and playing clarinet in both chamber music and symphony orchestra settings. Music has given me the opportunity to tour to a dozen countries and perform in some of the world's great concert halls, from Carnegie Hall to Lincoln Center in New York to halls in London, Moscow, Kiev, and Tokyo. My teaching methods are essentially designed to give the student maximum command of his/her skills on their chosen instrument. First, all students must know the music essentials and the masters, especially on their instrument. Technique must be perfected by daily practice. I seek from every individual the highest level that they can attain to. No one knows exactly what that is but what is surprising and refreshing are the boundaries once thought impossible to accomplish have been broken. Read More

For students who are learning an instrument for band or marching band, I like to integrate their sheet music or method books into the lesson. I use method books with students who are new to their instrument. These materials are then supplemented with scales, solo repertoire, exercises, and technique work as appropriate for each student's interest and skill level. Lessons also consist of listening to previous assignments/repertoire from prior weeks and then offering feedback, answering any questions a student may have, and giving new assignments for the next lesson. The majority of my teaching experience dates back to high school. I had two great cello students during my senior year playing cello and are still involved in the arts. My hope is to find students that are serious about making technical advancements on their instruments as well as having a deeper understanding of harmony and the connections between all genres of music. Robert G. is a Dallas-born saxophonist and composer. Read More
