For beginning and intermediate students, I like to assign short pieces from method books such as Student Instrumental Course and Rubank. For more advanced students, I will help them explore their particular interests, introduce them to traditional repertoire, and for jazz/rock/pop students, aid them in the process of transcribing the music they love, which benefits their vocabulary as well as their ears. I have been providing private and group lessons through the New England Youth Wind Ensembles for over three years. I have experience with online, as well as in-person lessons. I encourage regular practice to all students, as it is important to develop daily and weekly routines. As a result, I have developed a teaching method, which combines ‘awareness instruction method’, with basic teachings in music. I start teaching to beginners, mostly kids and teenagers, the French Clarinet Method of H. Klose book 1 accompained by an appropiate solo repertoire for the level and warm up excersices, once the student has progressed with all the clarinet fundamental tecniques I introduce the second part of the method and varied solo pieces that can be performed in solo recital performances, and school concerts. In the case of adult students I make an evaluation of their level and abilities with the instrument and elaborate a program regarding to their main interest with the instrument that keeps them engaged.
