I'm always also pushing and motivating them to learn more and practice more. The more they practice each lesson the better they become and the more they would have control of the instrument. If you're a beginner, you were put in a beginning class. this makes it very difficult for students to advance quickly because they aren't playing music with people who are more advanced than them. I make sure the students have the ability to play the instrument before they learn a ton of theory, because knowing how the wrritten form of music work without being able to play them is recipe for frustration.
